DO I NEED A SECOND DEGREE?

I was having a conversation with a few people two weeks ago and this was mainly about the popularity of having a second degree and then a PHD.

Questions to ask yourself.

•Do you want a second degree because at the moment everyone else has a second degree? OR
•You Believe it’s the right thing to do next

If you can be true to following questions then you can decide what you really want a Master’s of Science or an MBA.

For today we will be discussing on if a Master of Science is right for me?

First Can you afford to pay for this MSc degree?
This is the most important question before applying.
I have come across people doing this second degree and could not really afford to pay for it or they were funded to do it and along the way things change.
Make sure you can afford this degree before buying into it.

Secondly,Are you are ready for a life changing experience?
My life changed and as you all can see I still haven’t recovered from this experience.
e.g my sudden weight loss, developed confidence etc.
Are you ready for commitment? Are you ready to focus on a particular area for one year? Are you ready for endless research?
Are you ready for late nights? Are you ready for isolation?
Think about this commitent aspect properly?

Thirdly, you need to be passionate about that area.If you are not passionate about that area then do not waste your time studying that course.
Please don’t study a course you just for the name.

Fourthly,Do you have work experience in that area?
Trust me if you have not undertaken work experience in that chosen field do not waste your time taking it as a second degree.
You need to have experience in that field to be sure it is what you really want before investing that large amount of money.Imagine you take an (MSc in Banking and Finance) and you’ve never worked in the Financial sector and you attend interviews after graduation what are you going to tell your employer you have experience in?

Lastly,Building relationship with people working in that field also called networking this is really important do not take this opportunity for granted.
Connect with as many as possible working in that field for future purposes.
Your connection with this individuals will help when you finish and you start looking for a job they would always know what useful organisations you can apply to or even put your name  forward for a role.
Networking is key!

Remember to apply these principles even if you have already started your second degree.

Do you have a specific topic you would like me to talk about.?
Please leave a comment.

Thank you taking time to read.

Choosing God First

Last year, I worked at a university as a receptionist for various summer school events. During that time, I built meaningful connections with students and teachers and by the end of the season, I felt inspired to pursue a similar role this year. So, when Easter came around, I began applying to different summer school positions. I had an interview for one of my top choices in June, and it went really well! However, when the offer came through, there was a change in the offer. The offer was at a different location than I had applied for and required me to work six days a week—including Sundays.   I took time to consider the offer carefully. Missing church services on Sunday was not a good decision for me for six weeks due to my commitment in Church. I decided I couldn’t accept a role that would prevent me from attending church on Sundays. So, I reached out, politely declining the revised offer and asked if I could be considered for the original role that didn’t require working on Sun...

God’s Leading Is Always Superior (Part1)

In December 2022, I found myself at a crossroads. I’d just wrapped up a temporary teaching role in November and was seeking a full-time, permanent teaching position. The desire for stability and purpose was strong. I attended Shiloh program, where Bishop Oyedepo spoke passionately about seeking God’s guidance and waiting for his guidance. Following his advice, I wrote down a list of four schools I wanted to apply to and began praying over each one, asking God which direction to take. Surprisingly, I felt nudged to apply to the fifth school on my list. I began praying earnestly about this school using  two scriptures that felt particularly relevant: Genesis 1:2 - “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Psalm 44:3 - “For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance...
